...and other Hollywood stars get together on a project recently, to save the rainforests.
And why I care, you want to know?
Because I live in rainforest land.
Because rainforest harbour some of the world most precious, healing plants, and amazing animals. And myths and legends and the people who create them.
I care because, if you fly over we hinterlands, you might see red scars here, there, earth bleeding in the middle of dark-green forest, because of people gouging the land.
Because, Chico Mendes die to save it. But he ain’t die in vain, I hope.
I am glad them celebrity folks do it because, when ordinary folks talk, nobody don’t listen. When celebrities talk, everybody care. Check out more of the story and photos of them celebrity folks, here.

Let's hope that their voices are heard and some action is taken.
BTW that frog bears a startling resemblance to Prince Charles:)))
Exotic Gyal
I agree with Exotic Gyal,.........
kind of puts you off kissing the frog though doesn't it?
The single biggest reason for helping to alter the climate is deforestation, the second is called nature!
In tales ("myths and legends")princes do change into toads and the reverse, so why should you be surprised at the resemblance, Exotic Anonymous Gyal and Zooms?
I am glad them celebrity folks do it because, when ordinary folks talk, nobody don’t listen. When celebrities talk, everybody care.i think it's great they're doing this... but i also think it's a shame that they have to...
ps - i think it's weird and somewhat ironic that prince chuck loves to save wildlife/the rainforest etc etc etc while also enjoying hunting things like deer and foxes and such... just saying...
But we ordinary folk must continue to speak out, though we think we are not heard. We must speak with our dollars most of all. Buy nothing that takes from the rain forest. Demand goods that were made in ways that preserve the earth and take care of the people who make them. It works. Because so many people have asked for organic cotton clothing, fewer farm and textile workers in India are dying of pesticide poisoning. It works. Never, never, never remain silent simply because you think you will not be heard.
they may as well use their celebrity for SOMEthing helpful! (aside from the D.L. of course)
Grace, you're so right, speak with our voices and with our dollars.
I read somewhere, that one person can't do everything, but everyone can do something.
Those cotton farmers in India...I read something about them and some seed company called Mosanto squeezing them out...I'm only now learning about that, so don't know much.
Will, I don't know about foxes and hunting them, what do they do with them after they've caught them? As for eating deer...well, I don't eat meat, but deer is quite prolific and deer meat is, well, delicious [I remember from my meat-eating days]. Oooh, vegetarians will kill me for this, but I'm not against people eating meat.
Louis, there are some cute frogs out there. I mean, the real ones, like the golden one, and the blue poison one. Have you seen them?
Johng, I think it's a mix of everything. Including pesticides...how I hate pesticides.
Zooms, you and Exotic Gyal! Wicked.
Exotic Gyal, speaking of looking like...do you know who reminds me of you? Catherine Bell, a tv actress...the eyes and smile and cheekbones, she's cute so don't say nay.
Cadiz, I wish Hugh Jackman would say something in that Aussie accent. SIGH.
I've always wondered what the big ugly crapauds(toads) turn into? (you know the ones that always jump out at you near the back pipe)
Maybe as the charming handsome princes get older and more desperate they turn from frogs into big ugly crapauds? :)
Yes, the yellow one near Kaieteur, the "Golden rocket frog" that you can't find anywhere else. In water spots on those giant plants, the biggest member of the same family as the pineapple. Hve not seen the blue one yet.
GG
Ow gyal yuh so good fo me ego. I will still kiss the frog if I get a chance:))
The name BARAMA is imprinted in my mind. 10 years ago I flew over some of the land they were harvesting trees from and it was completely bare I wonder if they replanted any trees.
Exotic Gyal
Mrs. N. and I were in St. Lucia in 1998, and went on a rainforest day trip. It was a wonderful experience. As with most things in life, it is one thing to read about a place, but it is quite another to see it in front of you. Leaves so big, you can wrap yourself in them like a blanket, trees that you could make homes in, and all manner of animals that one doesn't normally encounter here.
Mr. Nighttime, I've heard that St. Lucia is really lovely, I'd like to visit one day.
Ahhhh, gimme any place with trees, Mr. Nighttime. Gimme shelter :-D
Exotic Gyal, everytime I see she in the tv show, I does think is you, then I got to remind meself that is a tv show with actress.
That Barama thing is scary baaaad.
Louis, apparently, the blue frog is in Suriname too, not far from you, come to think of it. It is soooo beautiful to see...but not to touch, stay far.
Malaika, kill me dead I ain't kissing a big fat crapaud to find out what they turn into.
Them things is very sluggish though, they sit like big lumps, I tried shooshing one and it REFUSED to move. Even when I pushed it with a stick.
You shoulda hear me holla.
How can a gal be so happy living in Georgetown where I think twice about walking down the street after dark?
Hello Patrick, welcome to my place, you're safe here :-)
I'm not always happy, but yes, generally, I am, most of the times, even though things do worry me.
I've had to learn how to be happy. I'm still learning. It's a skill. I wish I can share it with my fellow Guyanese.
Amen!
I'm leaving a little gift for you G~G

yep, good to see that they did this... but I agree with grace... the one thing the corporations REALLY LISTEN to is the bottom line. Hit them where their dollars are, and it creates change.
I've always loved frogs. That one was gorgeous. Let's hope his home (and the homes of all the wildlife in the rainforset) is preserved.
