A fulfilling 2008 to one and all…

2007 end with me belly so chack-full, up to now them cupboards in me tummy pack-up. From Christmas day to yesterday, I eat eat eat. All kinda food been on different tables in various places, here and there. Grilled salmon. Baked sweet potatoes. Bhagee. Roti. Ginger beer. Curry beef and roast beef for meat-eaters. Milkshakes. Fruit cakes. Chocolate cake. Tea. Don’t ever fo’get the tea. Salad with lemon juice, dill and chop-up shallots. Baked chicken. Rice. Carrots and green things. More veggies. Baked tomatoes stuff-up with cheese. The days following Christmas we hang out with long-awaited family from Seattle who bring gifts from sister, cousins, auntie.

I am sure y’all eat plenty too, wherever you been…so…let us retire to the library, dear folks, puff away at rotund cigars and drink port or brandy or whatever them men of high society used to imbibe in olde English literature, I hope you don’t think badly of me for drinking the humble l’eau though…

I want to make a li’l wish for everybody. Salut. Sante. Good health to all for 2008. Prosperity. Happiness. Love. Warm hugs on cold days. Nice cool drinks when your life-pot get too hot.

Ahhh…now let we recline, rest we hands on we pretend paunches, burp in ungentlemanly and unladylike ways and gyaff…chat…what plans you got for this new year?

(((Burp!))) Excuse me. :)

I thank you for these lovely and kind words for the new year. I'm looking forward to your stories in 2008, GG! God's blessings to you and the family. Peace and a big hug~

Thanks Stephen. Blog suffered so badly last year, shees, I dunno what this year will bring, I've just decided to take the new year ONE DAY AT A TIME instead of anticipating chunks of good things the whole flippin' year.

Happy New Year, Gigi.
I'm stuffed!
I drink lots and lots of water, too.
Don't think badly of me if mine is sometimes grape-flavoured.

Happy New Year, GG! That was a lovely wish for us that you blogged, and I wish it right back to you, too!

What are you hoping for/working on for 2008, humm? besides getting the book published....

Happy New Year. Like you, my back teeth are under water. So my first plan is to get back into my usual routine of sensible eating and exercise. And my main plan is to find an agent and/or publisher for my novel.

Zin, you sound a lot like moi! I hope you find your agent/publisher soon! So far, I'm yet to start exercising again. As for finding an agent/publisher. Well, it's only day 2 of the new year :-)

Hayden, I want to get my craft going full-time instead of the little bit here, the little bit there, I want to get a website going when I can sell online, and I would like to join an artist group, and I want to get other creative folks together so we can come up with an effective way to sell our craft.

Cream, you performed a miracle? Water into...grape juice? hahaha

So thank you for yours (a fulfilling, and not a fuel filling, year) and best wishes for the next 366 (three hundred and sixty six) days.

Thank you GG for bringing a smile to my face every time I 'heard' your Creole lilt and your wonderful freehand style word pictures last year, I eagerly look forward to more of the same this year and wish all your hopes come true.

I too had the grape juice, but mine had all gone off and fermented, but waste not want not I say :0D

My belly full too but the mouth still watered when I read your delicious descriptions.
For my New Year? To do much the same as you describe, maybe we could have an online crafty get together?
all the best to you Guyana Gyal
with love,
zooms x

I wish you a happy and prosperous new year too, GG. I stuff myself too much this year. I think it's all salad greens and fresh fish from here on out!

The trouble with Christmas it's such an interruption in one's normal routine and I find January really difficult to get back on form. However I have made one serious resolution (so much easier to keep one) to be more charitable In thought t and action and less of a grumpy old bat. I shall try to follow your shining example.

Pat, I was thinking the same yesterday, that January is a total anti-climax. Oh, but I AM a grumpy bat at times too...pms, lack of proper sleep and when I'm hungry...just like a baby. As for charitable in action, I can't help it, I live in a poor country, most folks here [not all] are charitable. And charitable in thought...well, I like to give people chances because I want the same.

Larryh! Hullo! Where you been so long? You okay? Life treating you well? Hope 2008 is great for you.

Happy 'rabbit food' Beenzzz, and I hope you don't quit blogging, I like hearing how Guyanese over there are doing.

Zooms, that's an exciting suggestion! But confession...I'm nervous...all sorts of things running around my head, how, when, what...suppose I don't measure up, suppose I let you down, eek...

Thanks for your wonderful compliments and wishes, Robin. You're a good boy, the best. Don't waste or you'll regret it, eh? :-D

Same to you Louis :-) As for the fuel, I'm trying to think of ways to beat the rising cost of electricity here, darn our power co. By the way, is it 'sante' or 'santee'?

Cadiz, I keep adding to the blasted list! I need to stop! Maybe I'm addicted to list-making. I wonder if there's a job opening. Wanted. List-maker.

2007 ended with me restin'-- had some abdominal surgery, so I had to be still and res.

Now, me and me list are ready to tackel 2008!

I hope to finish my doctoral dissertation, settle into me new job, get my son's college applications off, and take a nice holiday or two!

I also look forward to your first book being published-- I will rush out to Amazon to get it!!

P.S. Who will play you in the movie? Alfre Woodard? Selma Hyeck? Halle Barry?

:D
